Term 4 - Week 9
Dear families,
Welcome to the last newsletter for 2022. Firstly, our staff are looking forward to seeing our amazing Central families at this evening’s End of Year Concert. We kick off at 5:30pm (a bit of drizzle won’t stop us, but a storm might postpone us!) and the whole show will be done before 7pm! Remember it’s full school uniform for students and after our rehearsal yesterday, we all think families are going to really enjoy the evening.

Camp Quality thank you
Thank you to all our families who donated to the Camp Quality free dress day. This week our small school donated $187 to this wonderful charity.
Year 6 Graduation - Wednesday 7 December
Year 6 graduation will take place on Wednesday 7 December starting at 5:30pm and finishing by 7:00pm. Year 6 parents, have you sent in the items Mr Barnes has requested? Remember to purchase your tickets on Qkr!
Rewards Day - Thursday 8 December
Our students who have exemplified Safe, Respectful Learners this year will be heading off to their rewards day next Thursday 8 December. The P-3s are off to the Gympie Aquatic Centre and the 4-6s are off to Noosa to have a swim at the beach. Our students who didn’t get to the 225 Gotchas still have a great day planned for them here at school. They’ll still celebrate, they’ll just do it at school.
Do you know any new families?
Our school is close to acquiring an extra class in 2023. Do you know a family new to town? If so, invite them to come and tour the school. We’re still a little way off, but if the school can secure enough new enrolments, the school can form a new class and class sizes will reduce. What student doesn’t want more kids to play with!
Classes for 2023 will be released on the last Wednesday of school. Students will spend the last session that day with their new teacher. Reports will be emailed on the Thursday afternoon.
Surplus furniture
Do you need a computer table? The school has 6 computer tables to give away. They’re under A Block and you just need to contact the office if you’d like one.
Happy holidays!
On behalf of all the staff here at Central, thank you for another great year. Your children are our best ambassadors and this has been evident in the way they have made our new families to school feel welcome over the past fortnight. Have a merry Christmas and a safe holiday period. Farewell to our 6s and departing families - you will be missed here and you are always welcome at Central.
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky

Gympie Central Visitor
Mr Thorburn was quite surprised to be met by this strapping young fellow last week outside of A Block. This is not the first time the cleaners have spotted wallabies at Gympie Central and I'm sure it won't be the last. Not sure where this roo was off to, but I'm sure he had a hopping good time.
Collect your child’s medication from school
Student medication is not able to be stored at school over the Christmas break. Parents are asked to come and collect their student's medication from the office on Friday 9 December.
New medication will need to be brought back in on Monday 23 January 2023, in it's original packaging. When this medication is brought into the office, new paperwork will need to be completed. Please check the expiry dates before taking medications back to school.
Lost Property
We have a large amount of lost property at present.
If your child is missing any items, please have them check the lost property which is located under A Block.
Any items remaining at the end of term will be donated to charity.
Overdue payments
There are still a few families with outstanding payments from this year. All oustanding payments need to be finalised by the end of November, so that accounts can be closed off for the holidays. If you are having difficulties making these payments, please contact the office to discuss other arrangements.
Student Absence Notification System
Reminder: If your child is absent from school without explanation you will receive a SMS text message that morning to your mobile phone asking to explain their absence. Please reply (on the same day) with a simple SMS answer eg sick; specialist appointment. Alternatively, you can call and leave a message on the Student Absence HOTLINE—Telephone 5480 2166 to report your child’s absence.
Please contact the office by phone if you have any concerns regarding the message you have received.
Qkr Payments!!
Reminder: Qkr is the cashless payment method available at Gympie Central State School which allows parents to pay for items without coming into the office. Qkr is a mobile phone app designed for Australian schools. It can be used to purchase school uniforms, pay for upcoming excursions and events as well as Tuckshop.
Instructions on how to download the app are shown in the link below.
To avoid paying for something twice, please open your Qkr app to review payments already made. Thank you.
