Term 4 - Week 7
Dear families,
The Gympie Central End of Year concert is a fortnight away! Classes are rehearsing, the P&C has the raffle tickets ready to sell (has your children brought theirs home?) and everyone is looking forward to a great evening. Each class will announce its Outstanding Effort students. They are not necessarily academic awards - instead they recognise students who have given their best efforts throughout all of 2022 and who have embodied our values as Safe, Respectful, Learners.
Families and friends are invited to join us on the evening.
What: Gympie Central End of Year Concert

Time: 5:30pm- 7:00pm

School Captain speeches - Monday 21 November at 10:20am
Six candidates are vying for the 4 school captain positions in 2023. Families can join the students in the parade area this coming Monday morning to listen to the candidates’ speeches.
4D Recycling Excursion - Tuesday 22 November
Year 4D are off to the Hervey Bay recycling plant next Tuesday. This excursion has been made possible through the support of Gympie Regional Council and Cleanaway.
Free Dress - Thursday 24 November
Next Thursday, Camp Quality are bringing a free puppet show to Central. There will be separate performances for P-2 and 3-6 students where they will help children gain understanding about the challenges faced by families impacted by cancer. On this same day the student council will host a gold coin donation free dress day with all funds donated to Camp Quality. What a great cause!
There is no theme for the free dress, but children are reminded to wear clothing with sleeves and they still require a wide brimmed hat.
Donations can be made on Qkr!
Guess the number of reindeer noses (aka Jaffas) fundraiser
One of our families kindly donated a jar of reindeer noses for some Christmas fun. Guesses are 50c and the jar is sitting in the office. Come and see Mrs Cross to have your best guess and raise some money for our P&C. Good luck everyone!!
Year 6 Graduation
Year 6 graduation will take place on Wednesday 7 December starting at 5:30pm. Year 6 parents, have you sent in the items Mr Barnes has requested?
Do you know any new families?
Our school is close to acquiring an extra class in 2023. Do you know a family new to town? If so, invite them to come and tour our school. If the school can secure enough new enrolments, class sizes will reduce, and what student doesn’t want more kids to play with!
Classes for 2023 will be released on the last Wednesday of of the term. Students will spend the last session that day with their new teacher. Reports will be emailedout on the Thursday afternoon.
End of Year Rewards - Thursday 8 December
For the last two semesters, the school has recognised the kids who demonstrate excellent behaviour with a trip to Nelson Reserve. To end this year, students with over 225 Gotchas (a pretty amazing effort!!) get the chance to travel on a bus to have some fun with water. There will be no cost for these students, as the Student Council will use funds raised to sponsor the reward. For those students who don’t make the 225, there will still be fun games and activities here at school. These events are scheduled for the last Thursday, 8 December. Notes will be sent home in the second last week.
P&C news
Lastly, the P&C needs a big shout out! Kara, Amy, Michael and the rest of the committee have worked tirelessly these past 2 years to support your children in many ways. The fortnightly tuckshop is a treat for many of our students, they ensure uniforms are always available, they run the Mother’s and Father’s day stalls, they work quietly around the school to beautify the grounds and they have fundraised successfully throughout the year. Through their dedication and hard work, they have raised over $15000 this year. While some of this goes into the running cost of the committee (uniform purchases and tuckshop supplies), the rest goes back into the school. To the committee and those who can’t attend, but have contributed in their own way…
Remember, we are here to help
Like always, if there is something that you want our support with, or if your child is struggling, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for support. If it is not a matter for the teacher please call the front office and arrange to meet with a member of the leadership team, so we can work through things together. It takes a village to raise a child, so let’s work together.
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
