Dear families,
Get your groove on - it’s time for the disco!
Lots of kids are excited to get their Silver and Gold with a dash of Glitter and Glam ready for tonight’s disco. It kicks off at 5:30pm, finishes at 7pm and food can be ordered on Qkr. Parents are welcome to stay and enjoy the event. There’s a wide range of P&C food for sale and the Student Council are selling packs that contain a packet of chips plus a popper or milk drink. Cash sales are available.
Please bring a Gold Coin donation for the Student Council at the door. Entry through Lawrence Street.
Teacher aide appreciation
Every day our Teacher Aides make a positive difference to our students here at Central. Our school is very fortunate to have a fantastic group of talented Teacher Aides who work hard to support students in their learning and staff in their teaching – their contribution to our school is a very significant one. On behalf of our school community, we acknowledge and thank each and every one of our awesome Teacher Aides!
Talent Show final - Wednesday 14th @ 11am
Over the past three weeks some of our performers have been strutting their stuff for our Gympie Central’s Got Talent. Next Wednesday, between 11am and 11:30am, we have narrowed it down to 7 finalists who will battle it out to win the title. There will be dancers, singers, puppeteers and even a Rubik’s Cube solver! Families are welcome to cheer everyone on, so come and join us for some fun in the last week of Term 3.
Book Week - Wow!
What a fantastic morning we had celebrating Book Week. It was so wonderful to see all the students dressed as their chosen book character - it’s a real buzz seeing so many of our staff and students getting into the celebration. Thank you to Mrs Condon for her wonderful Book Week display and activities in the library. It was a lot of fun!
Prep Year in 2023 – Enrol Now!
We are inviting all current Gympie Central State School families and community members with a child or children starting Prep in 2023 to complete and submit an ‘Application for Student Enrolment’ form. The form is available via our website or from our office. Children are eligible for Prep next year if they are born between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018. While the new school year is a little less than two terms away, it is important that we have as much information as possible to manage our enrolments.
New and returning families are now invited to book their 2023 prep interviews.
Attendance Matters
When our students turn up, we can do amazing things with them! Regular attendance at school has so many benefits, so if the kids are well, make sure they’re at school.
Remember, we are here to help
Like always, if there is something that you want our support with, or if your child is struggling, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for support. If it is not a matter for the teacher please call the front office and arrange to meet with a member of the leadership team, so we can work through things together. It takes a village to raise a child, so let’s work together.
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
Voluntary Contribution - $20 per student
Reminder: Each year Gympie Central asks for a voluntary contribution from families. The contribution is used to purchase texts, paper and resources used in classroom learning. This year the payment can be made via the Qkr! app or in person at the office. Your support in paying the voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated.
Student Absence Notification System
Reminder: If your child is absent from school without explanation you will receive a SMS text message that morning to your mobile phone asking to explain their absence. Please reply (on the same day) with a simple SMS answer eg sick; specialist appointment. Alternatively, you can call and leave a message on the Student Absence HOTLINE—Telephone 5480 2166 to report your child’s absence.
Please contact the office by phone if you have any concerns regarding the message you have received.
Qkr Payments!!
Reminder: Qkr is the cashless payment method available at Gympie Central State School which allows parents to pay for items without coming into the office. Qkr is a mobile phone app designed for Australian schools. It can be used to purchase school uniforms, pay for upcoming excursions and events as well as Tuckshop.
Instructions on how to download the app are shown in the link below.
To avoid paying for something twice, please open your Qkr app to review payments already made. Thank you.

3H News
3H have been busily finishing our Northern Blossom Bat informative posters. We have learnt so much about many different animals of the world and enjoyed discovering some interesting and even weird facts about them.
We’re all keen to visit Cairns as we’ve found out about many exciting, fun places to go and see. One of our favourites was zip-lining 4 metres above a live crocodile inside the Cairns Wildlife Dome!
Using many different ways to represent multiplication number sentences, we are now faster at finding answers to multiplication problems using our favourite strategies.
We are really enjoying our swimming lessons and are listening well to the instructors. Those students not participating in swimming have been happily fitting in very well with 4D for the afternoon, with great behaviour reports from Ms Davis. We are looking forward to the school holiday and look forward to another great term to come.
Farewell!
Well done on making it through a very busy term! Hoping you enjoy your spring holidays.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your children, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Central. Getting to know everyone here at has been great and I will miss the smiling faces, funny antics, and Gympie Central Community spirit and families.
Wishing you and your families the very very best.
