Term 2 - Week 7
Dear families,
The school is proudly flying the aboriginal flag this week during Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme is Be Brave. Make Change. This year we are asking everyone to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives – where they live, work, play and socialise. Change starts with us and starts small- Paul Kelly tells a great story in his song ‘From little things, big things grow.’
Attendance
We are in the assessment period at the moment in most of our subject areas so it is important that children have the best attendance possible. Attendance is important at any time, but catching up children can be challenging and children who complete assessments at a different time to their peers can find their results are impacted.
Prep 2023
Our Under 8’s Day was a terrific success and the Under 8’s had a fantastic morning. Between dancing, drumming, bouncing, listening, playdoughing, planting, masking and meeting the emergency services, the kids were great ambassadors for the new families who came to explore the school.
- Wednesday 27th July 9am-10:30am
- Thursday 18th August 9am-10:30am
- Wednesday 7th September 9am-10:30am
Upcoming Excursions
Next week, our P/1R class are off to the Yandina Ginger Factory. This trips links in with their English where they have been studying The Gruffalo and science where they have studied living things. They’ll have a great day!
In the last week of term, the 1/2S and 3H class will head to Wildlife HQ for their excursion.
Parade Performances
Remember to join us when your child/ren’s classes will have their parade performance. It’s been great to see families and community returning to our parades each Friday morning.
4D - Friday 3rd June
5/6B - Friday 10th June
P/1R - Friday 24th June
P&C
Our next P&C is Monday afternoon at 5pm and everyone is welcome to attend. Our P&C is small, but dedicated. They have already donated funds back to the school to subsidise the excursions and their support of our school is invaluable. Check out the enormous worm near the parade area and keep an eye out for the new seats on our oval at sports day.
They received beautiful support in the way of handmade gifts from families for our Mother’s Day stall, which was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser!
Sports Day
It's nearly time for the students to break out their house colours again with our Annual Interhouse Sports Carnival being held on Wednesday 15th June. Families are invited to join us for a super day out, in their house colours of course. Keep an eye out next week for our Sports Day Program with all event details.
Year 7 Transition
Gympie SHS and James Nash SHS are two more hosting combined parent information sessions next week. See the below flyer for more details. Families who are transitioning their Year 6 child into Year 7 in 2023 are invited to attend one of these sessions. Enrolment packs for both schools are available from our school office, and both highschools are asking that all enrolments be submitted by the end of this term, Friday 24th June. If you require assistance with completing this paperwork or are unsure of which highschool catchment you live in, please come into the office, we are more than happy to help.
Have a great week and look forward to seeing you around the school!
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky

Happy Thursday!
Hot chocolate sales are booming with this recent cold snap. They're a perfect way to warm your child/ren's tummy on these freezing mornings. Hot chocolates are being sold every Thursday morning alongside Brekky Club for only $1 each. This is a Student Council Fundraiser, so all proceedings go back into improve our school.
REMINDER!!
We are collecting bread bags, so any bag that has had a bread product in it, please drop it in to the office, and hopefully we will get enough to go towards some sporting equipment for the school.
As always, remember to reach out if you need some assistance, whether that be for your child/ren or yourself. I am always happy to have a chat and offer help wherever needed.
