Term 1 - Week 1
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
COVID in the school setting
- Parents and families are always welcome at Central. This means that once school resumes properly, families are welcome to come into the school grounds and speak with staff etc. Masks are required to be worn inside buildings. If outside, they must be worn if physical distancing of 1.5m cannot be maintained.
- Adults are asked to maintain physical distancing and avoid gathering in groups.
- All staff, contractors and volunteers providing a service inside the school are required to be double vaccinated.
- Staff and students are required to stay home if unwell and show any symptoms of COVID.
- If a staff member tests positive, they must isolate at home. In the event multiple staff are absent, the school will endeavour to replace staff where possible. Families will be kept informed of changes and student management in the event Gympie Central is impacted by staff shortages.
- If your student tests positive to COVID, the school requests that you keep your child home and inform the office. Families with children in that class will be informed of a positive case in the classroom and can then be vigilant to monitoring their own children.
- For this first fortnight, no student absences will be counted.
Welcome Mr Martin
The school team would like to welcome Mr Ben Martin to our staff for Semester 1. Ms Davis has taken leave and will return in Semester 2. Mr Martin will teach 4D in her absence. Mr Martin is well known around the school as he has completed university placements here with Ms Harcourt and Ms Saraber and graduated at the end of 2021. Welcome on board at Central Mr Martin!
Book drop off
The book drop-off will not be rescheduled, however, families are welcome to drop books to school any day before 4 February. Visit the office first and we’ll let you know if the teacher in on site that day, then you can head to the classroom. If the teacher is working off-site, the office will hold the books and get them delivered to the classroom. Otherwise, students can bring their books on the first morning.
Parent Information afternoon Tuesday 22 February
Parent information sessions will be hosted on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 February. They will happen from 3:15pm and are hosted in classrooms.
Badge Presentations Friday 4 March
Once school resumes, Student Council and Sports Captain voting will take place. The badge presentation ceremony will take place at the 9am parade on Friday 4 March.
The Gympie Central team can’t wait to see everyone back here in just over a week’s time.
Remember the office is open each day and if there are any questions, please get in touch with the school.
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
Qkr Payments!!
Reminder: Qkr is the new cashless payment method available at Gympie Central State School which allows parents to pay for items without coming into the office. Qkr is a mobile phone app designed for Australian schools. It can be used to purchase school uniforms, pay for upcoming excursions and events as well as Tuckshop.
Instructions on how to download the app are shown in the link below.
To avoid paying for something twice, please open your Qkr app to review payments already made. Thank you.
