If you need before or after school care, get in touch with the team at Waru Kids. They’re right here at Central, operating mornings and afternoons, five days a week. 

Prep 2026 transition mornings 

Have you added your child to our prep enrolments for 2026? Children born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021 are prep age next year. Contact Mrs Cross in the office to secure your child’s 2026 enrolment.  

The school will host two prep transition sessions in Term 3 and two in Term 4. Pre-preps and their families are invited to join us here at school to join the classroom activities and start to explore school life. 

The dates of the transitions are: 

Term 3 
Wednesday 13 August 9am-10:30am 
Wednesday 27 August 9am-10:30am 

Term 4 
Wednesday 5 November 2pm-3pm 
Wednesday 19 November 9am-10:30am 

Book Week parade is happening on Friday 22 August!  

Gympie Central will be celebrating 80 years of the Children’s Book Council of Australia with visits from Curtis from the Gympie Regional Library (Wednesday 20 August) and then on Friday 22 August, the school will be hosting its Book Week parade at 9am. Book Week parade is always really well supported at Central and there are always so many great costumes. This year’s theme is Book an Adventure so it’s time to start planning! 

District T&F and Eisteddfod students 

Good luck to our students competing today and tomorrow at the Gympie District Track & Field trials and the students competing at the Gympie & District Eisteddfod next Tuesday! 

Parent Teacher Interviews - 4-22 August 

Parent-teacher interviews provide families the opportunity to check in with your child/ren’s teacher, follow up the report card and set goals for the remainder of 2025. The interviews are scheduled for Weeks 4-6 and are offered before and after school. In the coming days, each teacher will send a letter showing their available times and families book a time by returning the letter to the teacher.   

Annual School Opinion Survey 

The suite of School Opinion Surveys is undertaken each year by the Schools and Student Support Division to obtain opinions about schools from parents/caregivers, students and school staff. The surveys are designed to help schools identify what they do well and find areas which may need improvement. 

The suite of 2025 School Opinion Surveys is open now and closes 22 August 2025. 

We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve. 

150th Commemorative Book - available on our website 

In the years since the 150th celebrations, past staff member Dea Walker spent countless hours putting together a book to commemorate the school and its 150 years of history. This book is now freely available on the school’s website at the following link:

It takes a bit to download, but there are many amazing memories in here. A big thank you goes to Mrs Walker for her dedication to this project and for even continuing the work after finishing at Gympie Central! 

Bully Zero Workshops 

A valuable opportunity is being provided to parents/carers of our schools within the region, to participate in a free face-to-face 1.5-hour workshop facilitated by Bully Zero, a leading bully prevention organisation.  The workshop Bully Zero, is designed to proactively support parents to understand what bullying is and what parents can do to support their children to be safe both online and when face to face with their peers.   

The attached flyer provides information regarding locations, inclusive of the online option and how to register for the workshops.  Participants must register for the workshops.
