Term 3 - Week 7
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Last Friday the Year 6s returned exhausted and with plenty of stories from their camp at Total Adventures Noosa North Shore. This was the first time the school has visited this camp and after three days of canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, laser tag, archery and mountain biking, the year 6 teachers and students have enthusiastically recommended the camp for next year’s seniors.
Next week, the Year 5s head out to Barambah Environmental Education Centre to take on the Barambah Challenge. They’ll be joined by Mr Barnes, Mrs Groves, Mrs Wilcox and Chappy Leanne.
Free Dress Day Tomorrow - Friday 28 August
Last week, the students earned themselves their whole school reward for behaviour. There is no cost for the students but they are required to still wear sun safe clothing and a wide brimmed hat. Nice work students!!
P&C News - Tuckshop (Friday 28 August) and Father’s Day Stall (Monday 31August)
Tuckshop has been running successfully this term and each Wednesday (or Thursday) the Friday menu is emailed. Last Friday the Tuckshop trialled the use of the Qkr app for ordering and it worked really well. Qkr enables families to order online without having to send cash with students. Orders can still be submitted using the paper bag with cash method.
If you haven’t already, please download the Qkr app and search for Gympie Central State School. Those who have used the app are finding it quick, easy and hassle free.
Next Monday 31 August, the P&C will be holding their Father’s Day Stall here at school. All classes will visit the stall on Monday morning and any items still available after the class visits will be on sale during first break. Price guide is $1 to $10 and all classes will have a selection of the same gifts that have been divided into class boxes.
Junior Swimming - Starts Monday 31 August
Junior swimming lessons commence next Monday 31 August at Deep Blue Aquatics. Please ensure Activity Consent forms have been returned and payment made by tomorrow. Payment can be finalised using Qkr, Bpoint, EFTPOS or cash.
Student Free Day - Friday 4 September
Next Friday 4 September is a state-wide Pupil Free Day. Staff will be in attendance at school, but there is no supervision for students.
Gympie Maths Challenge - Tuesday 8 September
In less than a fortnight, Gympie Central will send two teams of Year 5 and Year 6 students to compete in the Gympie Maths Challenge. Teams compete against primary school teams from all over the Gympie area and it’s a great way for students to test themselves against other likeminded students. This year the event will be hosted at One Mile SS in their hall.
School Disco Cancelled
Due to COVID restrictions and current operating guidelines, the school disco planned for Thursday 10 September will not be able to proceed.
Year 7 Transition - Have you enrolled your child in secondary school?
The Gympie secondary schools are currently preparing their Year 7 timetables for 2021. Families of Year 6 students are requested to submit enrolment paperwork to their intended school so the schools can develop accurate timetables and make the transition into Year 7 as smooth as possible. The schools have passed on their thanks to those who have enrolled their child.
During Term 4, Gympie State High School and James Nash State High School will host orientation days and students can only attend these if enrolment paperwork has been received.
Have a great week!
