Dear families,
After postponing today’s cross country, the rescheduled event will be run next Thursday 3 April. Children can wear their house colours that day and families are invited to come along and cheer on the children. The races start at 9am on our Myall St oval and all ages levels will be finished by first break at 10:50am.
Free Dress and Ice blocks tomorrow
Our Student Council have hit the ground running and will hold their first free dress day tomorrow (gold coin donation), and at second break they will have their first ice block sale. Ice blocks will be $1 or $2 and will be cash only. They plan to have the ice block sales once each month.
Celebration of Learning - Thursday 3rd April at 2:15pm
Next Thursday, our classes are hosting a Celebration of Learning. Classrooms will open up for families to come in to see the great work their children have completed. It’ll also be a chance to meet your child’s teacher if you haven’t already.
School ANZAC Service - Wednesday 23rd April at 9:30am - Families welcome
In the first week of Term Two, parents and families are invited to join our students on Wednesday 23rd April when Gympie Central will commemorate Anzac Day with a special 30-minute service at 9:30am in the school parade area. This service will be led by the school captains and will be attended by a special guest speaker from the Gympie RSL. Every year the RSL does a great job of coordinating the speakers for all schools and for this we are appreciative.
Gympie ANZAC March - Friday 25th April
Gympie Central students always join the Gympie schools to participate in the town march representing our school and showing pride in our school. We’re wanting as many students as possible to join us again this year - our uniform stands out and looks fantastic as we march with all the schools and groups.
For students able to join us on Anzac Day - 25th April, Gympie Central will join local schools and organisations to march in the Gympie Anzac March along Mary St to Memorial Park. Details are:
Event: Gympie ANZAC Day March. Staff will march with students.
Date: Friday 25th April
Time: Gather outside the NAB in Mary St at 9am for a 9:30am march. Students are not required to stay for the service following the march.
Uniform: Full school uniform including school or navy blue hat. A small supply of spare school hats will be available.
It will be great to see as many students as possible join our school and the other Gympie schools on this day. For any students who have family medals to wear, these can be worn on the right side.
Gympie Central is also proud to have a number of students who will be joining the Gympie Combined Marching Band. Keep an eye out for our uniform shirts among the others and cheer the band as they march past.
Regular Attendance Matters - Our target is 91%
We’ve kicked off our Friday afternoon activities. Between drawing classes, art installation projects, Lego Club, basketball and duster hockey, Friday afternoons are a lot of fun at Central!

OSHC - Semester 2
Waru Kids OSHC is coming to Gympie Central and are anticipating opening for the start of Term 3. Next term, they will be hosting meet and greets and once their final approvals are ready, they’ll open up enrolments. They will need our support to ensure Waru Kids is a long-term sustainable operation for before school, after school and vacation care operations.
It’s important that families are aware that children who are at school before the 8:15am bell are required to use the OSHC service. Children who arrive after 8:15am can go straight to the supervised (by school staff) playground. The service will be available at the following times:

Religious Instruction - Friday middle session
A fun Christian RI program will be held this Friday, 28th March at our school. The aim of the program is to inform students about the basics of the Christian faith from a non-denominational perspective. The program is offered to students from Yr 1 to Yr 6 and students must have consent to join in. All students who were consented into Christian RI last year will join the program again this year. Any other student can be consented in by writing to or emailing the principal.
Kind regards,
Glenn Cafferky

QParents
QParents has launched at Gympie Central SS!
It’s great to see that so many parents have registered for QParents already. If you have not received an invitation, please advise us immediately.
Gympie Central will be starting to use QParents as a means of gaining digital consent for excursions and camps later this term to reduce the amount of paper notes that are sent home. You will need to be registered for QParents to enable your digital consent access.
If you need assistance with the registration process, please click on the link below or contact the office on 5480 2111 for support.
QParents Registration Guide for Parents
2025 Voluntary Financial Contribution - $20 per student
Each year, the Gympie Central State School P & C Association endorse a voluntary financial contribution of $20 per student, which equates to $0.50 per week for the entire school year. This money is a vital part of Gympie Central P&C’s commitment and helps to fund reading books, classroom resources, photocopying paper and tissues. This year the payment can be made via the Qkr! app or in person at the office. Your support in paying the voluntary contribution is greatly appreciated.
Payment Options
We have a variety of payment options available here at Gympie Central. Our most preferred method of payment is the Qkr! app. Qkr! is a cashless payment app, which means you can make payments on your mobile phone, rather coming into the school. The Gympie Central P&C also use this app, so not only can you pay for camps and excursions, but you can also order school uniforms and tuckshop with the app.
Instructions on how to download and use the app are shown in the link below.
Other payment options that we provide are:
1. BPOINT - (for invoiced activities) Pay online or by phone using credit/debit card: https://www.bpoint.com.au/payments/dete or phone 1300 631 073
2. CENTREPAY - (for invoiced activities) We now offer Centrepay as a payment method for instrumental music and school camps. Use Centrepay to arrange regular deductions from your Centrelink payment. You can start, change or stop using Centrepay whenever you like. If you would like to set up a Centrepay payment, or know more information about this payment method, please contact the school office.
3. EFTPOS - We accept Mastercard, Visa and all Australian bank, building society and credit union cards.
4. CASH - Cash payments are still accepted. However, the school no longer has the ability to give out change, so only cash payments of the correct denomination will be accepted.
Student Absence Notification System
If your child is absent from school without explanation you will receive a SMS text message that morning to your mobile phone asking to explain their absence. Please reply (on the same day) with a simple SMS answer eg sick; specialist appointment. Alternatively, you can call and leave a message on the Student Absence HOTLINE - Telephone 5480 2166 to report your child’s absence.
Please contact the office by phone if you have any concerns regarding the message you have received.
