Term 2 - Week 3

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Next week the transition back to regular schooling commences when the Preps and Year 1 students return to school. The success of this process will then help the Department of Education plan for the return of the remaining year levels. While 25 May is the proposed return date for Years 2-6, confirmation of this process will be made by 15 May.

A separate letter will be emailed out tomorrow to families with children in Prep and Year 1 with more information regarding next week which will include a new drop off and pick up procedure.

Thank you again to all families who continue to show their commitment to assisting their children learning while keeping everyone safely isolated. Our staff appreciated the positive comments at Tuesday's Student Resource Pack pick up (Weeks 3-5) and our staff continue to be available to help. They are only an email or phone call away.  Please call into the office as soon as possible to pick up your child/ren's pack if you haven't already done so.

DAILY Attendance Contact

Reminder: Schools are still required to make DAILY contact with families to confirm learning arrangements. Please read each daily SMS message and reply as quickly as possible EVERY day.

If the YES or NO option does not apply for any particular reason on a certain day, please phone the absence hotline on 5480 2166 and leave a detailed message eg if your child is sick or you have an appointment and your child will not be learning from home that day.

Please note that if we have not received a reply by 9.30am, you will receive a phone call to confirm your family’s situation.  If we are still unable to contact you, your child/rens absence will be recorded as unexplained.

Report Cards

Report cards will be distributed at the end of this term, however, there will be less areas reported on.  This is in consideration that not all assessment tasks have been able to be successfully completed. Results will be a reflection of the work that has been able to be completed during Term 1 and the latter part of Term 2 as well as any student book work. It is anticipated that the following areas will be included on report cards:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science or HASS (Humanities and Social Science)
  • Health and Physical Education
  • Music and German (where assessment has been able to be completed)

Once students return to school, teachers will review the concepts covered during the learning@home phase, then work through the remaining key areas of the units of study before assessing late in the term.

Welcome Chappy Warrener

Next Tuesday Gympie Central welcomes our new chaplain, Mrs Warrener. Mrs Warrener will be working at Central on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every second Friday.

Show Day - Friday 15 May

Although the annual Gympie Show has been cancelled next week, Friday 15 May is still the Gympie Show public holiday. Therefore, school will be closed on this day.

Thank you again for your support and understanding during this time.

Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
