In the classroom with 5/6B
Greetings Gympie Central community,
We have hit the ground running in 5/6B with students settling back into learning routines nicely. In English, we have been watching a series called ‘My Place’ which follows the life and times of people living in an area of Sydney from the 1800’s through to today. Students have been unpacking letter writing and will create a ‘Letter to the Future’ for their assessment task.
In HASS we have been learning about how people, places and cultures differ across the world. We conducted a survey of the cultural backgrounds/ family history of 5/6B students. Next, we researched those countries of origin including environment, culture, food, languages and religion, then compiled and presented to class.
Our Science topic for the term is ‘Our Changing World’. We are currently unpacking extreme weather events and their impact on communities.
Finally, we are all getting excited about our upcoming Noosa North Shore Camp and can’t wait to experience canoeing, mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, archery and night time laser tag!
