Student Leadership 2022
The process for electing the 2022 school captains has commenced. Our Year 5 students are planning their applications and on Monday 1 November all Year 5 students have the opportunity to complete the high ropes course at Gympie East SS. On this day, they’ll have a chance to show how they work as part of a team and demonstrate their leadership credentials to their classmates. This cohort of students is smaller than the 2021 cohort and so as a result there will only be two school captains in 2022.
Sports Captains and Student Councillors will be elected in early 2022.
Disco - Friday 12 November
The Student Council can’t wait to try out their new disco lights at our next disco, which will be on Friday 12 November!! The theme is Fancy and Fantasy.
Prep 2022 transition mornings - 4 and 18 November
Do you have a child born between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017? We are ready for your child to start prep next year! Keep Thursdays 4 and 18 November in your calendar and bring your 2022 preppy to school for their transition mornings (9-11am). Bring a hat, water bottle, closed in shoes and a smile :)
If you have your enrolment paperwork ready, drop it to the office by 19 November to go into the draw for a uniform pack donated by the P&C.
High School Enrolments for 2022 are due now
Thank you to the families who have submitted enrolment paperwork for GSHS and JNSHS. In the next fortnight, the schools will send out their invitations to enrolled students for their transition days. Students MUST be enrolled in order to be able to attend their high school transition day.
2022 Classes
Over the coming weeks teachers will be planning classes for 2022. The class groupings will be shared in the last Wednesday of school when students will have the chance to spend the afternoon with their teacher for 2022.
End of Year Concert (Thursday 2 December) and Year 6 Graduation (Wednesday 8 December)
The end of Year concert will be held here at Gympie Central in the parade area starting at 5:45pm. This year, classes have started planning their Art Auction fundraiser piece. Every second year, each class produces a whole class piece of art and these go to the highest bidder on the evening. This is a fun way to raise money for the P&C and I know there are some proud artists in households with previous years’ art work on display.
This year there is no Christmas raffle as the P&C is finding the Bunnings BBQs are an effective way to raise money in a short time.
Year 6 Graduation will be held in the parade area on Wednesday 8 December starting at 5:45pm.
QSuper World Teachers’ Day
World Teachers’ Day Queensland is on Friday 29 October and this year, QSuper want to say a really big thank you to the teachers of Queensland. Make sure you write your message of thanks - it only takes a minute and you could win a prize pack for our school!

Relay for Life – Jelly and Ice-cream cup fundraiser
3/4D are raising money for Relay for Life. Each Wednesday for the next 2 weeks, children will be able to purchase a jelly and ice-cream cup for $1.50. These will be available at first break in the parade area. Families can purchase these by using the Qkr app. Thanks for your support.
School Magazine - Off the Slate
Our School Magazine is in production and will be available to order shortly. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
Remember, we are here to help!
I would like to thank families, staff and students for the contributions made every day to make Gympie Central the wonderful community it is! Like always, if there is something that you want our support with, or if your child is struggling, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for support. If it is not a matter for the teacher, please call the front office and arrange to meet with a member of the leadership team, so we can work through things together. It takes a village to raise a child, so let’s work together.
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
Voluntary Contribution - $20 per student
