From the Principal...
Term 2 - Week 3
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The recent ANZAC March was proudly attended by student representatives from Gympie Central SS alongside students and community members from across Gympie. The students in their Central uniforms stood out and marched really well. Thank you to the families who helped get their children to the march.
NAPLAN
From the 11th to the 20th of May our Year 3 and 5 students will undertake NAPLAN testing. NAPLAN tests are constructed to give students an opportunity to demonstrate skills they have learned over time through the school curriculum, and NAPLAN test days should be treated as just another routine event on the school calendar.
It is important that students are at school on time each day and that like always, they have had a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast.
All of the NAPLAN tests will be completed by students in an online environment, except for the Year 3 writing task. This is still a hand written task.
P&C News

The P&C have been busily preparing the Mother’s Day gift packs. A big thank you to Charmaine and Kara who have given their time to prepare these. These packs can be picked up by students this Friday. P&C will do classroom deliveries to any that aren’t collected.
Bunnings BBQ - Saturday 8 May
Volunteers from the P&C and staff will be hosting the sausage sizzle at Bunnings this Saturday. If you’re heading there on Saturday, come along and buy a sausage to support the school.

Guidance Officers Week
Gympie Central celebrates, thank and highlight our Guidance Officer, Mrs Suzanne Weedon. Guidance officers respond to some of the most complex and challenging issues in our schools including student protection matters, critical incidents, mental health issues, and suicide prevention and postvention support. If you think your child may benefit from seeking support from our guidance officer please do not hesitate to contact the school.

This year’s theme – Heal Country! – calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.
Tuesday Playgroup at the Early Years Family Hub (EYFH)- every week!
Playgroup is hosted at the EYFH every Tuesday morning from 9:30am-11:30am. It’s free and all are welcome. There’s also a ‘crafternoon’ each Tuesday afternoon from 12:30pm-2:30pm.
75 Gotcha Award
A massive congratulations to our next Gotcha Award Winners, Ellie-Eve, Eva, Jeffrace, Kael, Savannah and Lily-Belle.

Remember, we are here to help!
Like always, if there is something that you want our support with, or if your child is struggling, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for support. If it is not a matter for the teacher please call the front office and arrange to meet with a member of the leadership team, so we can work through things together. It takes a village to raise a child, so let’s work together.
Have a great fortnight!
Warm regards,
Glenn Cafferky
